Costa Rica is known for its beaches, and little more. But there’s a lot to explore in that corner of the World, and it’s one of those cheap travel deals where you get a lot for your money. Unless you feel bad about taking advantage of a currency that’s not the strongest, and that’s actually losing ground to all major currencies. But, for tourists, of course, that’s a good thing.
For such a small country, it’s surprising how much diversity there is. Whether you’re into almost virgin beaches and forests, perfect for activities like climbing, hiking and white water rafting, or you’re into surfing or other water sports, even if you’re just looking to kick back and relax at the beach, Costa Rica has it all.
In terms of safety, you should take the necessary precautions you take at just about any other tourist destination. Be aware of pickpockets and keep an eye out for your change and be careful when changing money outside of a reputable establishment, like an international changing firm or a bank. The people in Costa Rica and nice and welcoming, not at all like more “hardcore” south American countries, but there’s always some ill intended people.
