There are plenty of cruises with island centric itineraries, but which one should you choose? Whether you’re looking for a short cruise around the Hawaiian islands, or an extended holiday around the Bahamas, there are plenty of opportunities to choose from. Here are just a few factors to consider when booking your next cruise.

First, is the amount of time you want to spend. There are many itineraries that can span several weeks. And although you don’t have to be onboard the entire trip, meaning you can embark and disembark anywhere at any time, you still want to manage your time. Long trips mean there could be instances of nothing but open water, if you want to see specific islands, you will want to be onboard during those times.

If your budget is an issue, there is no need to worry. You can find anything from a Bahamas cruise deal to a Hawaiian cruise deal, all online. Consider when you’re booking, and through whom. Even if you don’t spend so much time in your room on your holiday, you will want a relaxing, comfortable place to come back to at the end of the day. Plenty of hotels offer restaurants, gyms, and other facilities that can keep you busy when you’re not off exploring the nearby sights. Resorts are the best example of this, with everything you could ever need right on site, you’ll never find a need to leave.

A comfortable vacation, however, doesn’t necessarily mean an expensive luxury hotel. Budget hotels are another popular option, offering travelers a chance to spare their bank account, without sacrificing any service. Being on a strict budget doesn’t have to mean uncomfortable accommodation. Never settle, and take the time to find the right hotel for you!

But there’s a new side of Dorset that’s yet to be discovered. When you look at Dorset’s magnificent countryside or at the amazing beaches with stunning geological formations, like the Durdle Door near Lulworth, you can’t really help but wonder how there aren’t more people visiting this area every year. Hopefully that will all change very soon, as Dorset grows in importance and puts its name on the tourist map.

For such a small country, it’s surprising how much diversity there is. Whether you’re into almost virgin beaches and forests, perfect for activities like climbing, hiking and white water rafting, or you’re into surfing or other water sports, even if you’re just looking to kick back and relax at the beach, Costa Rica has it all.

In terms of safety, you should take the necessary precautions you take at just about any other tourist destination. Be aware of pickpockets and keep an eye out for your change and be careful when changing money outside of a reputable establishment, like an international changing firm or a bank. The people in Costa Rica and nice and welcoming, not at all like more “hardcore” south American countries, but there’s always some ill intended people.

There are plenty of airline search engines you can utilize online, and spending a week searching for a good deal is the best way to go. Even checking several times a day can present deals and discounts that weren’t available before. It takes time and patience, but in the end you can save a lot of cash. This means extra spending money for Mai Tai’s on the beach once you get there!

But you can make traveling a lot more memorable by doing other things. When you travel, you do not necessarily have to follow the tour guide’s program. There are a lot of activities that tourists miss out on because they either do not research enough or they are simply not that adventurous.

Traveling should not only be about visiting popular tourists spot. It should also be about immersing yourself in another culture. What best way can you experience a new culture than by actually performing things that are commonly practiced in your destination?

When you go to a foreign country, try riding on its most popular mode of transportation. There’s no harm in taking public transportation. Ride the rickshaws of India. Travel on the Philippine jeepney. Try London’s double-deckers. But just be smart about what you try to ride. Although having an unusual experience is the goal, your safety is still the top priority, so think twice about taking transportation that are considered unsafe, like the overcrowded trains in India.

Also, why don’t you go and try some of your destination’s signature street food? These snacks are cheap and, most of the time, tastier than gourmet. But again, be careful and be sure to keep a watchful eye for the preparation. While it is 100 percent sure that every street food in every country is not prepared through the most meticulous of means, this does not mean that eating street food is generally unsafe. It is a scientific fact that the human body can handle some bacteria, but just make sure that what you are eating is, relatively, safe.
